Olalekan Adetayo, AbujaThe Social Democratic Party on Thursday endorsed the candidature of President Muhammadu Buhari for the February 16 presidential election. The decision was taken at a meeting of the party’s National Executive Council held in Abuja. A former Minister of Information, Jerry Gana; and a former Cross River State governor, Donald Duke, are currently in court over the party’s presidential ticket. But the party’s NEC, in a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting and read by the National Vice Chairman, Dr Abdul Ishaq, endorsed Buhari. “The SDP has resolved to adopt President Muhammadu Buhari and vice-presidential candidate, Prof Yemi Osibanjo, of the All Progressives Congress as candidates of the party for the 2019 presidential election.
