SDHB promises colonoscopy, cancer care improvements

Southern District Health Board chief executive officer Chris Fleming says improving the board's colonoscopy services will be an ongoing piece of work. The Southern District Health Board has appointed a project manager to develop a plan of action to improve its colonoscopy services in the south. SUPPLIED Southern District Health Board crown monitor Andrew Connolly will chair a group established to steer the board’s colonoscopy improvements. Dunedin's patients on the urgent colonoscopy list waited an average of five days for their procedure, but the longest wait was 11 days. Fleming also briefed the board on plans to help SDHB meet ministry guidelines for faster cancer treatment.
