Chris Fleming is the new Southern District Health Board chief executive, and he plans to find out why so many Southlanders use the hospital ED department. Formerly the The Nelson Marlborough Health chief executive, Fleming was announced as the new SDHB chief executive by commissioner Kathy Grant on Tuesday. He takes on the role after being the interim SDHB chief executive since September, following the resignation of Carole Heatly. These include seeing the the SDHB deficit cut, the Dunedin Hospital rebuild started and overseeing improved models of care.
