In tracking SDG7, the statistics show the sub-Saharan Africa region has not improved its numbers at all. One that comes to mind is the 5MW TEGES minigrid in Zimbabwe featured in the 2023 African Power & Energy Elites. This approach is more likely to provide energy access along with energy security. In the Tracking SDG7 report, Stefan Schweinfest of the United Nations Statistics Division emphasised funding to scale up action to meet SDG7. The Tracking SDG7: The Energy Progress Report was compiled by the International Energy Agency (IEA), the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the United Nations (UN), and the World Health Organisation (WHO).
