A five-member bench led by Chief Justice SK Sinha upheld the bail on Thursday when the state moved with a plea against the HC bail. On Tuesday, the HC granted bail in the case and a total of 32 witnesses gave deposition. Ariful lost his mayoral office January last year following his surrender before a district court on December 30, 2014. On November 13 that year, police submitted a supplementary charge sheet against 35 people including 11 new in the Kibria murder case. The freshly-indicted accused included Ariful, Habiganj Mayor GK Gaus and Haris Chowdhury, former political adviser to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
