NewsThe Supreme Court today issued notice on Deputy Minister of Social Empowerment, Welfare and Kandyan Heritage, Ranjan Ramanayake to appear in court again on November 21 in relation to a contempt of court petition filed against him. He had appeared in court following an earlier notice issued on October 12 to be present in court today (25) when the petition was taken up. Alleged defamatory remarks against lawyers and the judiciary the Deputy Minister had made at a media briefing on August 21 form the basis of the petition filed against him.
