My previous column about rent and utility assistance may have left some financially troubled homeowners wondering, what about us? The good news is, there's still about $55 million available to help with past-due mortgage payments, property taxes, HOA fees and utilities. SC Housing is the shortened name for the South Carolina State Housing Finance and Development Authority. From the time applications opened last March, SC Housing has approved nearly $61 million in assistance for more than 13,000 applicants. While there's plenty of funding remaining "there is a large backlog of applications" according to SC Housing, so it could take a while for an application to get a decision.
