SC dismisses NAB's appeal to reopen Hudaibiya Mills case against Sharifs


Reason­s of the order will be issued laterISLAMABAD: In what appears to be a major victory for the Sharif family, the Supreme Court (SC) has rejected an appeal filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) requesting the reopening of the Hudaibiya Paper Mills scam case against the Sharifs. A three-member SC bench, headed by Justice Mushir Alam, heard the appeal against a 2014 decision of the Lahore High Court (LHC) to quash the reference, and announced the verdict on Friday. NAB supposed to prove Sharifs’ wrongdoing, says SCDuring the hearing, the SC bench expressed concerns over violating of its order seeking a ban on television talk shows discussing merits and demerits of the case. Earlier on December 12, the apex court had directed NAB to provide ‘incriminating evidences’ against the Sharif family to establish their criminal offence under the National Accountability Ordinance (NAO). In 2014, LHC quashed the reference concerning the Hudabiya Papers Mills against the Sharif family.
