Peralta will sit as chairman of a committee tasked with updating the rules, which shall guide judges and lawyers in their practice of the law profession. The chief justice said he wanted to update the “procedural rules to make them embody and be attuned to the technological developments,” which revision tops his initial four-point agenda for the judiciary. Peralta was also a former magistrate of the anti-graft court Sandiganbayan and later on became its presiding justice. Peralta was also a prosecutor of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte and Manila and is a noted criminal law expert in the country.
