The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite opened at record highs on Thursday, boosted by hope of Washington coming through on additional fiscal aid before the end of 2020. The S&P 500 gained by 0.5 pecent along with the tech-heavy Nasdaq. The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed by 135 points, or 0.5 percent, CNBC reports. Utilities and materials were the best-performing sectors in the S&P 500, rising more than 1 percent each. Apple added nearly 1 percent to lead the Dow higher.
