Deputy President William Ruto has responded to allegations by President Uhuru Kenyatta that he attempted to overthrow him after the August 2017 elections. The DP explained that he was always loyal to Uhuru and that he would never overstep his role and mandate as his deputy for whatever reason. "As Deputy President, I know what I must do. Who helped Uhuru to become president in 2013 and 2017 if not me?" Kuria argued that if the President endorsed Odinga, who publicly swore himself in as the people's president, then he should also support Ruto.
