The governor of Russia’s Belgorod region has issued a warning to local people to stay away from their homes, as attacks continue overnight in a border district raided by Russian militias aligned with the Ukrainian government. Late on Monday evening, drones struck local administrative buildings used by Russia’s FSB security service and the interior ministry. Earlier, the deputy head of the border Grayvoron district was reported to have been wounded in a shelling incident. Such scenes have become commonplace in Ukrainian cities and towns attacked by Russia, but are a rare occurrence on the Russian side of the border. Such a raid is seen as a potential “shaping” operation that might divert Russian attention on the battlefield before an anticipated Ukrainian counteroffensive.
