Team Canada coach Mike Babcock definitely has his team headed in the right direction at the World Cup. The not-so-small matter of the result of Canada’s final game of group play in the men’s hockey tournament. While the U.S. earned a date with Switzerland in the quarter-final, Canada drew Russia — by many estimations the second-best team in the tournament next to the host. “Everyone wants to talk as if we’re just cakewalking through every game, I wouldn’t say that’s necessarily the case,” said Jonathan Toews. All of which is to say: Don’t bet on being surprised, even if we all know hockey has a way of surprising us.
