However, at around the same time, foreign secretary S. Jaishankar and defence secretary Sanjay Mitra will be meeting their Australian counterparts in the first "2+2" dialogue between the two sides. Wang Yi's visit will be closely watched by the Indian side to gauge China's own reactions to India's overtures. There is little expectation of consensus between India and China at least on contentious issues like NSG membership for India, Masood Azhar's ban or even India's participation in OBOR. The RIC meeting had been scheduled for April but China cancelled it after Dalai Lama was allowed to visit Arunachal Pradesh. India expects China to once again propose Indian participation in OBOR, and India will continue to oppose it.
