Rupee opens higher for fourth session tracking recent gains in domestic equities


The Indian rupee on Tuesday opened higher for the four fourth consecutive session to hit a one-week high against the US dollar on the back of recent gains in domestic equity markets. At 9.10am, the Indian rupee was trading at 70.92 a dollar, up 0.34% from Friday's close of 71.15. Domestic equity markets surged in eight out of nine trading session and rose 4.3% during this period. The yield on the 10-year Indian government bond was at 6.518% compared with its previous close of 6.519%. The dollar index, which measures the US currency’s strength against a basket of major currencies, was at 97.30, down 0.03% from its previous close of 97.328.
