The Bluebirds beat fourth-place Bolton Wanderers 2-0 on Saturday to strengthen their hold on the second automatic promotion spot. The day got even better for Brian Barry-Murphy and his players when Bradford City, who are third, lost at home to Stevenage to leave them 10 points adrift of Cardiff having played one game more than the Welsh side. That means Cardiff could seal promotion as soon as Wednesday. For that to happen, they would need to win at Huddersfield Town on Tuesday and Stockport County, who are fifth with a game in hand, would need to drop points at AFC Wimbledon.
