Rs30,000-cr Motilal Nagar revamp to take off in August

The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority’s (MHADA) ambitious project, the Motilal Nagar revamp, worth Rs30,000 crore, is all set to take off in August with the housing body to float tenders then. Madhu Chavan, chairman, MHADA(Mumbai board) said, “The main advantage is that Motilal Nagar has a lot of open spaces and hence, we can start construction of new buildings at the earliest. Currently, MHADA hardly has any vacant land in its kitty to construct low-cost houses and they see Motilal Nagar as a potential area where they can get a handsome quota of such homes. They must take our consent,” said Yuvraj Mohite, president, Motilal Nagar Vikas Samiti. Motilal Nagar was built in 1960 to house people belonging to economically weaker sections.
