Union Minister for Electronics and IT Ravi Shankar Prasad, on Saturday, said India saved about $6 billion (Rs 36,000 crore) after implementing the direct benefit transfer system for various schemes. Speaking at the 57th Public Meeting of Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) Hyderabad, Prasad said the next billion users of Internet may come from India alone. We have saved $6 billion which used to be pilfered by middlemen or fictitious persons," he said. "In a nation of 1.25 billion population, we have got 1.03 billion mobile phones.
