Roydon lollipop lady steps down after 38 years in her role

A popular lollipop lady who has helped all five of her grandchildren cross the road near Roydon Primary School, has taken early retirement after more than 38 years. Carole Barrett, who has lived near the school for almost 50 years, took on the job in 1984 alongside being a mum to her three children. “I’ve been a dinner lady and cleaner for the school, and I always loved seeing the children grow from when they start at school,” said Mrs Barrett.
