The Prince, who was accompanied by the Duchess of Cornwall, was given a ceremonial greeting by traditional sword dancers, and at one point joined in, waving a curved three-foot long blade with a short wooden handle. Between them they will undertake 50 engagements promoting UK partnerships in Oman, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain. Charles and Camilla had arrived separately in Muscat but appeared together for a formal welcome from Oman’s ruler, Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said. The event on Muscat’s Ceremonial Boulevard featured dancers carrying both swords and automatic rifles.
