Rotting whale carcass on Newfoundland beach set to be removed after nearly two weeks of decay

— The putrid carcass of a humpback whale that has been rotting on a beach in Newfoundland and Labrador for nearly two weeks is set to be removed. Mayor John Kennedy of Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove, a small community near St. John’s, said the dead whale washed ashore on May 22. Kennedy said the animal is estimated to have died a month before its unwelcome arrival in his town. If you’ve ever smelled any kind of a dead animal, just realize there’s 20,000 pounds of dead animal there“I can’t for the life of me see the fascination,” Kennedy said. Always sad to see a dead #whale.
