Former New Zealand captain Ross Taylor revealed that he had asked England Test skipper Ben Stokes when he was just 18 years old if he wanted to represent New Zealand at the highest level of the game. In his recently-published autobiography, "Ross Taylor Black & White", Taylor said that he had asked Stokes to play for New Zealand while he was playing for English county side Durham in 2010. Over a Guinness, I asked him if he wanted to come and play in New Zealand. Vaughan stressed Stokes had to start from domestic cricket in New Zealand rather than fast-tracking to the national side. Obviously, it didn't come to anything," further wrote Taylor.
