Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque has vowed to resign once Congress passes a bill against fake news, and challenge its constitutionality before the Supreme Court (SC). Apparently referring to Sen. Grace Poe’s Senate Bill No. 1680, Roque said that the measure violates the freedom of expression and of the press under the 1987 Constitution’s Bill of Rights. The bill, which seeks to amend Sections 4 (B) and 7 of Republic Act No. “Obviously that bill pending in the Senate is one such law that would abridge freedom of expression and freedom of the press,” he added.
