Pic: Stock image (Getty)Plans to roll out automatic “red-light” cameras at junctions in Dublin have been put on hold while the Department of Transport considers a new national strategy for the expanded use of safety cameras. The National Transport Authority (NTA) confirmed that, pending a decision on the strategy, it will not proceed with developing camera enforcement at a small number of isolated locations, including proposed sites in Dublin. The move marks a pause in plans announced last year to introduce additional automatic red-light cameras in the capital following a successful pilot at Blackhall Place. However, the NTA has now confirmed it is awaiting the finalisation of the national strategy before proceeding with further development or installation of additional cameras. The Department of Transport is expected to make a determination on the draft national camera enforcement strategy shortly.
