A roller derby competitor has been paid $4000 after she said the coach of the national team failed to accommodate her disabilities. After lodging a complaint with the Human Rights Commission, Marcia Taylor, reached a settlement that also saw her get a team jersey and an apology from the coach of the New Zealand Roller Derby Team. Taylor a member of the Richter City Roller Derby Wellington since 2012 trained with the national team in 2014 - but was not selected for its tour of the United States that year. After the touring team was announced in October 2014 a discussion was had on Facebook about Taylor not being selected for the touring team. Office of Human Rights proceedings' senior solicitor Greg Robins said it was "a fair and appropriate outcome for both parties".
