PETALING JAYA: The Government is not planning to increase the mandatory retirement age from 60 to 65, clarified Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim (pix). In a statement Saturday, Rohani refuted media reports saying that the Government was planning to raise the retirement age. "The Government is always open to receiving appropriate suggestions and views on the retirement age from all parties. "Extensive research needs to be carried out because the mandatory retirement age was only just increased to 60 in July 2013," she said. We have to first assess the current retirement age.
