Rogers Communications says it has identified the “root cause” of Monday’s “unacceptable” outages that left wireless customers across Canada unable to make calls, send text messages or access the internet. “We have identified the root cause of the service issues and pinpointed a recent Ericsson software update that affected a piece of equipment in the central part of our wireless network. A 2020 Ericsson press release said the company is “enabling Rogers to continue to execute on their long-standing commitment to bring Canadians market-leading wireless services in the 5G era,” adding the partnership “will improve customer experience and support the development of compelling new services.”Loading... The outage began early Monday and led to a flood of complaints on social media, with some customers reporting services down since 2 a.m. The liberal govt must promote real competition instead of protecting profits of telecoms giants like Rogers, Bell and Telus.”Rogers, which owns both Rogers Wireless and Fido Solutions, is the largest phone carrier in Canada with approximately 10.8 million subscribers.
