ASSOCIATED PRESSRoger Federer and Rafael Nadal are moving closer towards a potential semifinal showdown at the French Open on Friday. 3 seed and 2009 French Open champ, easily dispatched Leonardo Mayer of Argentina, 6-2, 6-3, 6-3, in 1 hour 42 minutes. Federer and Nadal haven't met in Paris since the 2011 finals when Nadal won his sixth crown by beating his arch-rival in four sets. Federer and Nadal haven't met since the Shanghai final in 2017 which Federer won in straight sets. Then Federer pulled out of the Italian Open quarterfinals against Stefanos Tsitsipas ahead of a possible semifinal matchup with Nadal because of a stiff back and leg.
