Ashton Goudeau pitching for the Hartford Yard Goats during his breakout 2019 season. Goudeau’s name had appeared on a list of minor league free agents after the 2018 season. “He looked like he didn’t even belong in the Fall League,” Coslow said. There he was reunited with Steve Merriman, who was Hartford’s pitching coach last year before being promoted after the 2019 season to the Rockies’ pitching coordinator at the upper levels. That hiatus resulted in Goudeau pitching in the Arizona Fall League for Salt River and allowing four baserunners in 13 scoreless innings.
