University of Canterbury PhD student Liam Sycamore launched a rocket on Christie's farm, Inverlochy, at Waikaia on Sunday, as a test flight for his research into navigation systems. A member of the University of Canterbury Rocketry Group, Sycamore is studying electrical and computer engineering, and the flight tested logging and launch capabilities.
