Travel Rock Churches, ‘Road to Hell’ in LalibelaSt Giyorgis Church, the last of the rock churches to be built in Lalibela showing the image of a cross on its roof. Indeed, the 11 churches are labelled as the Eighth Wonder of the World. The North of Ethiopia, covering Aksum or Axum (a place of many churches), Lalibela, and Gondar is the circuit of history tourism while the South is known for cultural leaning. In Lalibela, the cross “plays a major role” in the decoration of churches. Explains Abenezer: “The Road to Hell is a four-minute walk through a pitch-dark alley that should give you a taste of what the real hell looks like.”
