The express lanes of Hwy. 401 were closed in both directions for several hours in Mississauga early Saturday as drivers had to navigate around a herd of cattle after dozens of cows escaped a damaged transport truck. The crash happened around 11:30 p.m. Friday, when the driver of a cattle transport hit a guard rail in the westbound lanes approaching Hurontario St., OPP Sgt. Photographs and video posted to Twitter show several young-looking cows roaming the westbound express lanes. The highway’s express lanes were closed in both directions following the crash.
