Roads reopening after heavy snow dump

Southern roads closed by snow are reopening as conditions ease, after a wintry blast dumped heavy falls on highways and skifields overnight and this morning. The Lindis Pass (State Highway 8) and the Crown Range Road, linking Queenstown and Wanaka, were closed this morning but open again by 1pm. Caution was urged on many roads around the region, and chains were advised to be carried. She said crews were prepared to handle any issues, and closed roads allowed for snow to be plowed and cleared quicker.
