Roads expected to reopen Tuesday night near site of North York van incident

Yonge St. is expected to reopen by Tuesday night as police continue to investigate Monday’s van attack in North York. Yonge St., from Sheppard Ave. to Finch Ave., was closed to both foot and vehicle traffic, Toronto Police said in a tweet early Tuesday morning. The area was shut down since Monday afternoon when a van mounted the sidewalk near Yonge St. and Finch Ave. and rammed pedestrians along a 2.2-kilometre stretch of Yonge St. Police have arrested and charged a suspect in the incident. TTC subway service on Line 1 is passing North York Centre Station Tuesday due to the ongoing investigation. The 97 Yonge bus route is also diverting both ways along Sheppard Ave., Doris Ave., Kenneth Ave., and Bishop Ave. because of the closures.
