A 41-year-old man is in hospital after a serious assault just after midnight near Hornby Mall in Christchurch. The man is in a serious but stable condition at Christchurch Hospital, police said. Police have cordoned off an area on Shands Rd near the mall for scene examination, closing the road. Police are still investigating the assault.
