Following the arrest of two BMC chief engineers for their alleged involvement in the road scam, other civic engineers in the civic body have come together and resolved to take up the matter as "now or never". Civic engineers are also supported by engineers from MHADA and have assured that if needed engineers from MHADA will also resort to protest to show solidarity. Ashok Padamsingh Pawar, chief engineer (roads), and Uday Namdeo Murudkar, chief engineer (vigilance), have been with the BMC for more than 20 years. After this, Brihanmumbai Mahanagarpalika Abhiyanta Samyukta Kruti Samiti — co-ordination committee of all different municipal engineers union — decided to kick-start the protest. To register their protest, on Monday, all the civic engineers have decided to work as per the set rules and not work after office timings.
