Road construction frustrates rescue operations on collapsed Pipeline building

Rescue operations on the building that collapsed in Embakasi’s Pipeline estate have been delayed for several hours after the eight-storey house came down trapping an unconfirmed number of people. The area OCPD said the poor state of the road under construction had delayed the operation as excavators and other rescue equipment took a long time to get to scene. The OCPD was keen to note that officers at the scene were keen to coordinate the operations possibly to save lives from the rubble. According to our reporter, the building is built not far away from the riparian area buffer and has an adjacent one that is occupied though still under construction. Last year in a similar incident several people died when a residential house collapsed in Huruma.
