Road and ferry closures for MarlboroughALDEN WILLIAMS/STUFF The Lewis Pass was closed overnight on Wednesday. Ice and snow have closed main highways, leaving Kaikoura temporarily isolated and a main alpine route impassable. State Highway 1 south of Kaikoura has reopened but drivers are urged to take care on the icy road. The Lewis Pass was closed overnight due to ice and snow but the New Zealand Transport Agency will provide an update at noon. ALDEN WILLIAMS/STUFF Vehicles were allowed through the Lewis pass on Tuesday afternoon before the road closed again in the evening.
