A group of four-wheel-drivers found themselves clinging to their submerged truck roof after a Canterbury river flash flooded. With six on board, the 4WD was one of two vehicles that got trapped in the swollen Waimakariri River on Wednesday afternoon. Waimakariri-Ashley Coastguard plucked the last two young men from the truck roof shortly before 4.50pm, getting them into an inflatable rescue boat.
