France will deploy police officers to promote discipline among young people after an alarming rise in coronavirus cases as Britain considers putting the country on the quarantine list. Police have been ordered to crack down on those who flout new orders to wear masks in certain streets and outdoor spaces in Paris, Toulouse, Marseilles, Lille and dozens of smaller towns after a steady rise in the infection rate. Bordeaux joined the list yesterday after President Macron’s government urged local authorities to impose compulsory outdoor masks everywhere. There are growing concerns that Britons will be unable to find a way back to the UK before quarantine kicks in if France is added to the list of countries from which arrivals must self-isolate.
