The prime minister denies he had doubts about the Rwanda scheme when he was chancellor in 2022. Sunak has made 'stopping the boats' one of his top five priorities, and is seeking to revive the plan after the supreme court upheld an appeal court ruling that there was a real risk of deported refugees having their claims in Rwanda wrongly assessed or being returned to their country of origin to face persecution
