Lord O’Neill, who led a major review into antimicrobial resistance, told the committee that the problem was a “top five” issue under David Cameron’s government. “I would really love death certificates to collect when people die of infections and if resistance has been involved, because that would really wake people up to the deaths as they happen,” she said.
