RIO DE JANEIRO—A bronze on Day 15 in Rio pulled Canada to one of its best performances at a Summer Games. The Canadian team reached a total of 22 medals Saturday when Catharine Pendrel of Kamloops, B.C., earned bronze in women’s mountain bike. With one day of competition remaining ahead of Sunday’s closing ceremonies in Rio, Canada equalled its best medal haul at a non-boycotted Summer Games. With four gold, three silver and 15 bronze, Canada ranked 10th in the overall medal count ahead of South Korea with 21 and host Brazil with 18. The Canadians were on track to hit the target of a top-12 ranking among countries in the overall medal count Sunday.
