The place: Rio de Janeiro, BrazilThe dates: The Olympics will be held Aug. 5-21, 2016, while the Paralympics are scheduled for Sept. 7-8. The venues: There are 36 Olympic venues and 23 Paralympic venues in four clusters: Barra, Deodoro, Copacabana and Maracana. Some of the venues are new, while others were used for the 2007 Pan Am Games and the 2011 World Military Games. While most of the venues are in Rio, 58 soccer games will be played in other cities, including Sao Paulo, Salvador and Brasilia. The cost: The operating cost of the Games is a little over $2 billion US.
