Rooney told Sky Sport after receiving her silver medal that she was "not going to let myself not get placed" in Rio. The South Canterbury shooter was selected for London but later lost her place when rifle shooter Ryan Taylor successfully appealed against his non-selection. Rooney took the early advantage in the final, hitting the target with her first four shots while Skinner missed twice. The pair exchanged shots before consecutive misses from Rooney gave Skinner the lead, which we never relinquished to claim Olympic glory.
