A Rikers Island corrections officer has been hospitalized with a fractured spine after six Bloods gang members viciously attacked him. Surveillance video captured the savage attack on the 39-year-old officer, which occurred on Saturday around 6.30pm in the George Motchan Detention Center on New York City's island jail complex. Unions sources said the six inmates involved in the attack were Bloods gang members. It follows a Thanksgiving Day attack by three inmates on 31-year-old Captain Awais Ghauri in Riker Island's Otis Bantum Correctional Center. The other eight corrections facilities on Rikers Island are set to shut down by 2027, the city said.
