GENEVA - A United Nations humans rights team has found regular and organized use of force against people protesting the rule of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. "Since the wave of demonstrations began in April, there has been a clear pattern of excessive force used against protesters," UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein said. "The responsibility for the human rights violations we are recording lies at the highest levels of government." The troubled South American nation has been engulfed by often-violent protests since April, as Maduro has moved to consolidate power. Tens of thousands of Venezuelans have already fled into neighbouring Colombia and Brazil to escape deprivation and turmoil.
