Joe Rooney, who played Fr Damo in 'Father Ted', has said it was now common for venues to demand that comedians and performers have individual insurance. He said it was making it more difficult for comedians to keep performing as an increasing number of theatres were asking them to provide their own insurance. He said that what's baffling was he didn't need it to perform in pubs and bars, where people drank alcohol.
