Uber refers to its pedal-assisted e-bikes as “new mobility,” but just how mobile are they? Lyft on Sunday publicly recalled 3,000 of its e-bikes used by New York City’s Citi Bike, San Francisco’s Ford GoBike and Washington, D.C.’s Capital Bikeshare programs after users complained its front brakes were too powerful. Just tapping the brakes apparently sent some riders over the handlebars. Lyft is working to replace the stop-happy e-bikes with manual ones for now.
