A husband has slashed his first wife to death with a machete, allegedly for objecting to his practice of polygamy, at Kalpani in the Mirpur area of Dhaka on Friday. Subsequently, on Friday afternoon, Imam slashed his wife in the neck with a machete in a fit of rage during an argument, said Pollobi police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Dadan Fakir. Ratan, one of Helena’s brothers, told the Dhaka Tribune: “My brother Milon lives near our sister’s residence. OC Dadan Fakir further said: “A murder case has been lodged against Imam Ali and we are investigating the incident. Marital conflict seems to be the primary reason behind the murder, but we cannot rule out other motives without further investigation.”
